How To Play
The Tale of Witchnook is a combination of a building simulation with an arcade shooting game. In short, you build buildings by spending magic points. Initially your main source of magic will be by clicking on little white rabbits. Note that the rabbits are very small, and you need to hit them exactly in order to gain the points. They also don't stay around for long, so click on them quickly!
The goal of the game is to attract as many witches as possible to your town of Witchnook. Witches need two conditions to move in: there must be a cottage for them to live in, and there must be food available in the city. To build a cottage, click on the magic wand icon (top right), click build (hammer icon), and then click cottage (house icon). A witch will appear at the cottage as soon as food is available. To get food, you need to build a market, which provides food for several cottages. NB: buildings cannot be built on water or trees; the icon will show up as red when you try to build it in an invalid spot, and the cost will show up as red if you have insufficient magic.
A third building that can be built is the bonfire. Witches use bonfires to give you more magic. However, bonfires are very expensive. A witch will move between a bonfire, her cottage and the market, as well as roam around a little. Bunnies will give significantly more magic than bonfires ... if you can click on them! You can always check your own magic supplies using the counter to the bottom-left of the screen.
In addition to building and shooting, you can modify the terrain itself to create your own map design. To do this, click the wand icon, and choose landscaping (mountains icon). This opens up several options for modifying the terrain. Be aware that adding trees or water under buildings will cause those buildings to be permanently lost.
