Christians are the number one threat to Christianity

Cross-Examination
Sovi: Can you elaborate on how Lucifer is a threat to the greater scope of Christianity?
Silver Crow: Lucifer is basically a con man he's the one tempting you to sin.
Silver Crow: Why do you say Christians are tge number one threat to Christianity?
Sovi: Many people who title themselves Christian are ignorant on biblical scripture and only take the some parts of the scripture seriously. This is destroying Christianity from the inside. There are other reasons as well.
Sovi: If one wanted to avoid being conned by Lucifer, how should they go about it?
Silver Crow: Why does it destroy Christianity? Maybe it destroys people's idea of Christianity but not Christianity itself.
Silver Crow: They cannot.
Sovi: A building is as stable as its supports are strong. To break a chain you target the weakest links. A house divided cannot stand. Christianity is only as strong as the Christians who compose it.
Sovi: Are you saying that it is impossible for one to resist the temptations of Lucifer? If so, then how does anyone fullfill God's commands?
Silver Crow: Christianity is a relationship between God and you no one else so only you can be divided.
Silver Crow: I'm saying there is no way to avoid his temptation but there is a way to resist it
Silver Crow: The only reason Christians are divided is because the Devil decided them.

I would like to apologize to the judges for being absent for the first round of the debate.

Christianity is the worlds largest religion, with over 2 billion followers claiming to follow Christ. This established religion has been falling in numbers in recent decades, with more youth turning to spiritualism or becoming non-religious. Many Christians are fathomed on why the religion is failing to maintain the traction it has held for centuries, and some Christians claim to know the answer.

I am of the educated position that Christians are the largest threat to Christianity for some very important reasons.
  • The Christian membership base is predominantly stuck in the past, which is turning away the progressive generation, causing Christianities decline
  • The Christian membership base are mostly only "Christians" by name alone, which fails to legitimize the religion and often puts poor advocates up as Christianities spokesman
  • The Christian membership base is very uneducated on the teachings of god, and those who have actually read the bible have little to no comprehension, weakening the church and the unified spirit that the church sustains.

All these will be argued and more next round. I thank the opposing position for being patient and continuing the debate despite the forfeit on my part.

Silver CrowSilver Crow (CON)

I don't have much time to debate this round. So sorry.

Arguments:

The Bible says Satan is a greater threat.
As seen in these verses.
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

1 Peter 5:8New King James Version (NKJV)

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because[a] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Those verses alone are only what's needed for evidence.

Rebuttals:

The word threat means threat "A person or thing that is likely to cause trouble, danger, etc." http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/us/definition/english/threat

With that in mind even though all your points are true it does not make Christians the *primary* threat. As I have proven the devil is a much greater threat.

I understand where @Stag is coming from. Many people proclaim themselves Christians, when in reality they either are 1) not of the Christian faith, 2) they are hypocritical, and/or 3) they only believe and take seriously some aspects of Biblical scripture.

It would be great if more debates weren't forfeit-fests.

Win awarded to: Silver Crow
Reasoning:
This was a simple debate marred by forfeits on both sides.

Stag advanced 3 arguments for his position. Silver advanced only 1 argument, but provided evidence/analysis. And that will beat 3 assertions basically any day. Stag's arguments could easily have been the stronger had they been properly defended. Ultimately however I felt that the BoP was not clearly enough satisfied to award pro the win.

Feedback:
Pro - the obvious. Substantiate your evidence. Forfeit not.

Con - pro had a significantly better writing style in this debate. He wrote with flair, provided context, told narratives a bit etc. Learn from it.

Win awarded to: Silver Crow
Reasoning:
On balance I felt that CON's argument was better supported and therefore I award CON the win.
PRO made three very coherent points in the second round, and had he built on these in the third round, as promised, they may have been strong enough to overcome CON's single argument.

Feedback:
CON: I think you won this debate by a much narrower margin than you should have. I think your decision to counter attack with an alternate threat was an excellent one, and you deserve credit for good strategy here.
I don't think your verses were the best ones to support your case, especially not the first one as it didn't actually say that Satan was a GREATER threat, only that he was a threat. You left yourself open to attack there.
I also think that PRO left you with an opening by not posting the first round. This allows you the opportunity to frame the debate and drive it in the direction you want it to go. You could have seized the chance to define Christians as true believers and mitigated his strongest attack.

PRO: Obviously, yet again this comes down to time management. You really need to start making arguments in round.
Your second round was basically your first round. You were just setting us up, with the real meat to follow. The problem was that this was already the second round of a three round debate. Had you actually posted your third round, it would have looked bad - introducing new arguments into the final round, and more importantly, it would have given you no chance to address any of your opponent's rebuttal to your points.
Your three arguments were well put and clear. I felt that your second point, claiming that many christians are not actually real christians, left your other two points up to a rather obvious attack - but lucky for you, your opponent didn't call you on this.
Ultimately you lost this debate because you used your second round to simply assert and not to argue.
