| Speak RoundChildren should not have legal obligations to their guardians in adulthood. This is because many children grow up in abusive or dangerous households that shouldn't continue into their adulthood, but if children had legal obligations they would be tied to it. Many parents don't deserve their children's support because they didn't support the child. Along with that after a child moves into adulthood there are multiple responsibilities placed on them all at once and they shouldn't have to provide for their parents, especially if the parent is still working and can provide for themselves. Especially since you are legally an "adult" when you turn 18, many kids are in college and barely finding a way for themselves, so there would be a lot of extra added pressure. Finally, there are many complicated situations, so it would be hard to say whether they have legal obligations. For example, there are cases of step-parents, parents kids never see, but are technically a "guardian", and adult siblings that step into the role of a guardian. Many questions would arise about who falls into the category of legal obligation and who doesn't. Therefore, children shouldn't have legal obligations for various reasons.
