Space exploration is a brand new frontier and has the capability to expand current pool of resources.
The exploration to Mars will have several benefits including forcing space technology to advance at an accelerated rate.
It is estimated that mining one asteroid could be worth as much as 10,000 quadrillion(https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/10/29/metal-asteroid-psyche-nasa-hubble-images/6069223002/)

This provides a clear economical benefit to space travel and developing the technology to travel to Mars and other planets or celestial bodies.

There is also a potential in the future for space factories. Manufacturing certain products in space could become the norm and have a largely beneficial impact on overall soceity(https://www.space.com/40552-space-based-manufacturing-just-getting-started.html).

While there are certainly still many hazards with human's in space such as muscle loss, and other abnormal impacts of living in space, these explorations will allow scientist to study and develop counter measures for these current issues.

Another good reason for the Mars mission is for space tourism and real estate(https://www.space.com/topics/space-tourism).

There is a large growing interest in the space tourism and real estate sector that could have immense economic and scientific benefits.

Overall funding the Mars missions today will allow to multiple new opportunities in the future and is worth the expenditure.

If nothing else, we should fund the mission to Mars because Mars is cool...
