My Little Pony is a good show. It used to be a poor show. Now it is a good show.
Who its target audience is, I don't care. I see the show as speaking to me as an adult male. Pokemon games are typically targetted at kids too but also played by adults, among countless other examples.
Nowadays I openly say that I enjoy the show. I'm not a fanatical fan but I do enjoy it. It's a fun, happy show with good morals told in a way that never condescends or talks down to it's audience. There's an overwhelming happiness that the show gives, and the production standards are top notch as well. The characters are nothing short of brilliant.
I don't care much for pink pony stickers. I care about quality entertainment, and the show qualifies. Such shows have cross-demographic appeal.

I'm watching the first episode online, it makes sense why people like it, it's cute.

the best Deadmau5 song besides Strobe
best album there is out there
I mostly like music where the artist has something profound or interesting to say.
For that reason I tend to be drawn to artists like Midnight Oil, Social D, Paul Kelly, Eddie Bricknell - that kind of thing.
Here's my favourite Proclaimer's song. The first couple of times, it's just a funny video, but the lyrics communicate a world of emotion. It's like a little window into one of Scotland's lowest moments.

I can dig some instumentals but for the reasons stated above I do tend to be drawn more towards music with good lyrics.
For me an instrumental needs to very clearly paint me an image of the scene/emotion/message the artist was intending to communicate. This is tricky to do because most times the listener needs to be on the same wavelength as the artist. Very seldom do I connect in this way with genres like House or Dubstep. Classic DJ exceptions would be Robert Miles.
Classical music is obviously pretty good at the kind of imagery I'm talking about as are contemporary artists like Mark Knophler and any number of Blues Musicians.
Here's my favourite Oils Instumental which I think illustrates my point perfectly. It's a story about a surf beach. It starts as you crest the final sand dune to see the ocean. It's pretty cool I think.

My favorite music? I'd rather not share and add to the "List of everything Rebekah has ever said that is geeky."

Okay, lately my favorite song has been "The End of the Beginning" by David Phelps, and I really enjoy sitting down and listening all of Handel's Messiah. ^^

Ha! Cool!
I reckon you might dig this one then? We're going to give this one a crack for the first time at church this weekend. If you saw our church you'd understand why I'm skeptical we'll pull it off...

I had so much fun writing this over the past day - a little song about a beach trip gone wrong for a composition challenge I posted on DDO, written on an actual beach no less:

Doesn't look like any beach I've seen around Paraparam!
Nice work though...
