Today I launched an update I know many of you will be very happy about. Debate countdowns should now no longer require a page refresh to update.
Let me know if this isn't working for anyone.
So in the last poll people identified they want to belong to multiple teams. I'm a bit apprehensive about that because it's a gigantic change, and yet there hasn't even been one single team debate yet. I'd rather develop features that will be useful to people right now.
Basically this is another suggestions thread. I'm sure I've forgotten stuff that people wanted added over the last few days, but with all this bug fixing and other stuff things have become slightly busy and I may have forgotten a thing or two. So please keep bugging me!

I still like the idea of being able to change usernames (though I think there should be a limit on how often you can do it). A way to sort of vouch for a coach (my current one has been great). More users would also be nice. I think if we could get some ads up on high profile debating websites, or for them to post articles about it, that could work.

Suggest some places to put ads! I mean, other than DDO, most other serious debating sites don't have many forum-like places, and most other forum-like places aren't really for formal debating.
Vouching for coaches - this would probably go down rather like DDO's like button on profiles. Simplest solution, I think, would be to pass on a testimonial to a coach. I mean, I'm not discounting the idea, it's just that on a site with 40 users you aren't going to see that much vouching going on.
Changing usernames - OK, will be done soon

I'm a bit iffy with the username changing. Sounds like it could get annoying.
Larz we need more people on this site! When are we going to see more traffic and how are you going to get more traffic here? I love this site but like any debate site it truly needs a large community to function well. With a large amount of members many of your great ideas (team debates, video debates, voting, ect) will really be able to take off.

I agree that it probably could get annoying, and there's a lot of potential for stuff to go wrong there, but hey, it's something. The big selling point of this site is, and has always been, that it's technically superior to everything else.
I, too, wish more people would come. I'm currently trying to come up with ways to get more traffic. Any suggestions please tell me! I've already been doing all the ads I can afford, which isn't very much at all. I've been optimizing the site and adding features but it hasn't really made much of a difference to actual numbers. The site has also been active socially and all that. Most of my remaining ideas are pretty vague. What do you think?

Have you been posting on Facebook debating pages? Because that can be one way to advertise, people do check out websites that way. I remember one person advertised his debating fb page on ddo and some ddoites did join the page and were active for quite a while.
Plus, yeah reddit should up the traffic too.

There are a few I can think of, I think. I'll share them when I get on a PC.

No smileys?
Please excuse me as I'm not super creative when it comes to forum signatures.
